Day 6- Sunday 13th December
The extremes of ups and downs! So we started the day on a very low but ended the day on a high and bought the team their first win in the Asian Grand Prix.
The first race didnt quite go to plan, starting from 4th on the front row I got a good start and was up to 3rd, after running a small bit wide Japanese rider and All- Japan champion (a big title!!) Inagaki Makoto came past. I sat in 4th and felt pretty relaxed. On the 3rd lap on the exit of a very fast right hand corner, I was out near the kurbs and as I went to brake for the next left hand turn (at around 110mph), I lost the front in pretty much a straight line. I went down quite hard and as I hit the floor, a rider hit me from behind, our bikes slid on and took the next three riders out, leaving one on fire! I was up to my feet and trying to say sorry to the riders, I felt so bad and im very sorry for what happened but its racing. Its also my first ever crash in a race, at the end of my third year racing! From the video footage, my manager says that I was hit from behind as I touched the brakes, but im not blaming anyone. The race was red flagged, we was allowed to restart but had a few things to sort out, the bike was a little bit damaged and my leathers where totally written off with big holes in them, so we had to buy a new off the peg set. Which actually fitted nicely! Although we didnt have time to restart the race. On to race two…
I got a better start this time and led into the first corner, I led a couple of laps before a Petronas Yamaha rider came past.
Im currently still at the circuit and leaving soon so I will continue update when im back at hotel!…
